4 Star Technique Rating

Description of discipline technique:
Determine your own set of "house rules" and stick to them. "If you don't clean your room, you can't have your friends over" or "you can't have any ice cream tonight because you did not eat enough of your dinner" and "If you don't finish your homework now, you won't be allowed to watch your favorite TV show later." Rules are rules and there is no room for negotiation. The hardest part is sticking to them.

Appropriate age group(s):
Six and up.

Other suggestions or comments:
Make sure not to give in or this technique may backfire, and kids will quickly learn to challenge you.
