Description of discipline technique:
I believe that my 11 yr. old daughter has a very positive outlook on life due to me listening, showing positive & negative reactions, and giving the odd tap on the bottom for rudeness.

My 2 yr. old daughter is put on the odd time-out, has toys taken away when theyÆre being misused, and is told to apologize when taking out any type of frustration on her sister. Although fortunate enough that her negativity isnÆt directed towards others.

Sister/brotherly love does take time. More so, when young siblings start to master their sought after spoken languageà

Appropriate age group(s):
toddlers to teens...

Other suggestions or comments:
Kids need positive direction, love and patience on the parents/guardians behalf. I find it very important for siblings to realize that rules are different for toddlers, preteens and teenagers. When anyone becomes irritated with lifeÆs ordeals, we all need to take our own little time-outs. I believe that time-outs, especially for young children (in moderation), can help calm them down and to regroup their thinking. I find the most overall helpful solution for kids, when a time-out isn't appropriate (mostly just for crankiness), is by telling them that it's a good time for quiet/alone time, to do the things that they enjoy on their own.

Always reassure children daily that they are loved & appreciated in all that they do. Stick with it, patience needs to be worked on by all. I have been told that on occasion, by admitting as parents that we are not perfect, itÆs a normal part of life and it will teach them to strive for the important things in life. Thanks for reading :)
