Homemade Valentines

Estimated time to make this valentine:
Approximately one hour.

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School

Materials:
White paper plate
White and red construction paper
Scissors
Glue
Markers or crayons
Yarn
Hole punch

Instructions:
1. Cut out the Heart and Home Symbol from the white paper and color it. (The Heart and Home Symbol is traditionally starts out as small heart with an arrow branch that comes out of the left side of the heart and circles completely around in a diagonal pattern until it points back to the heart).
2. Glue the Heart and Home Symbol onto the white paper plate.
3. Use the red construction paper to cut out red hearts for all the members of your family (or your favorite valentines).
4. Write the names of all your family members and/or valentines on to each heart.
5. Punch holes into the top and bottom of the paper plate and the top and bottom of all the heart valentines.
6. Tie pieces of yarn to the top and bottom of the plate and to the top and bottom of each heart and tie them to each other so that they all hang down vertically.
