Instructions:
I am not sure I will get one of these made this year, for a picture, but I saw Heart Banners at the supermarket, and this is a description of the simplest.

It's basically 2 enormous felt hearts (about 2 feet across), sewn together like a 'sandwich' at the edges...with about 12 inches left un-sewn in the middle of the top, curvy part of the heart. The inside of the heart is later stuffed gently with pink tissue paper, which looks quite pretty 'poufed' out just a bit at the top.

What's the newspaper for? Well, considering the size of the heart, I'd use it for drawing and cutting Pattern(s). Hearts/Half hearts; perhaps easiest to Fold and Cut, so both sides are Equal.

Sewing the Hearts together by machine or by hand is purely personal choice. Making 'em by hand makes a great deal of sense if you are promoting hand-sewing skills in a group setting, but you can also take turns on a machine.

Attach the heart to the pole with cording, ribbon, yarn or Whatever...and decorate along the pole/dowel with garland and ribbons

Other comments or suggestions to consider:
These looked so very festive! I could visualize them looking quite lovely at a Valentine's day Party or Dance, whether for couples, or Daddy/Daughter dances. With the tissue removed, the decorations would be easy to pack and store!

This would be best as an Indoor decoration, though, because sunlight and rain can be verrrry unkind to such lovely things.
