Description of technique:
Dr. Shinicki Suzuki began this method of teaching, believing that all children can learn to play an instrument before they can read music. The method involves daily listening to pieces one will learn and dedicated parent involvement. It is very rewarding. Eventually, the child who has learned to play by ear can learn to read music and play that way, too. Look for a teacher who is trained in the Suzuki Method in your area.

Appropriate age group(s):
3 and up

Other suggestions or comments:
Instruments which one can learn to play by the Suzuki Method are: guitar, violin, viola, piano, flute, cello.
As a parent, you do NOT need to have prior music training in order for your child to learn this way. You just need patience and the desire to develop a love of music in your child.
