Description of technique:
Encourage your child's musical interests by teaching them how to read music. If you're lucky enough to have a piano in the house, then you're halfway there. But if not, then you just have be a little more creative. You can start teaching your child how to read music with a simple and inexpensive xylophone toy. Most of them come with little song books that include not only the words but pictures of the scale and notes. You can also pick up inexpensive recorders and keyboards at any toy store. There are also plenty of "how to" teach music books available in your favorite local or online book stores.

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool on up.
