Description of technique:
Sign your kids up to start learning a musical instrument. When I was kid (back in the olden days) we were lucky enough to have a school music program that offered the instrument of choice to any student beginning in third grade. When funds started to get tight, the lessons were still taught by the school but we had to start paying rent for the instruments. If your school does not offer an instrumental music program, check your local yellow pages for music stores that offer a wide variety of instrument rental and teach music lessons as well.

Appropriate age group(s):
Elementary School on up.
