Easy Peanut Butter Cookies

Estimated time:
15 minutes to make and 10 minutes to cook.

Number of servings:
4 dozen

Ingredients: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
Half a cup of granulated sugar
Half a cup of packed brown sugar
Half a cup of shortening
Half a cup of peanut butter (smooth or chunky)
1 egg
1 and a half cup of all-purpose or whole wheat flour (not self-rising, just regular flour)
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Heat oven to 375.
Mix sugar, shortening, peanut butter and egg with a mixer.
Stir in flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls.
Place a couple inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Criss cross the top of each cookie with the tines of the fork for decoration.
Bake until set and not hard, about nine or ten minutes. (Watch the first batch!)
Cool slightly, then remove from pan.

Other suggestions and comments:
I mail them to my nephew, Gary, every Christmas because he loves them so. He is now 45 and still eating them!
