Description of technique for limiting kids' TV-time:
Winter days can be long when you have a kids in the house. Why not bring some of your favorite outdoor activities inside for a while? One of our favorites is to set up a tent. You can do this with a sheet and your dining room table or if you have a real tent (and the room in your house) why not set it up and go camping. We like to camp in the dark so we pull down all the shades and turn off all the lights. We grab sleeping bags and pillows and pack everyone's favorite foods. After we eat we sit in a circle and tell ghost stories or read from a favorite book. And don't forget the flashlights for lots of shadow fun and going on a bear hunt when you hear those strange noises...

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool and up

Other suggestions or comments:
If you have a fireplace, you might want to get some sticks and roast marshmallows by the fire! Smores are fun too--even indoors!
