Description of technique for limiting kids' TV-time:
I've loved playing board games ever since I was a little kid. That's why I'm so excited that I can now play with my kids since my husband has never really been much of a game player himself. There are so many different games to choose from for any and all age levels. If you have young kids, you'll want to start with Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders and Perfection. (Heck, my four-year-old is into chess already!) You can move on to Scrabble, Yahtzee, and Monopoly as the kids get older. There's Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit, Risk, Stratego and much more. And actually, there are junior and adult versions of most of these favorite games along the way. Turn of the TV and play games with your kids instead.

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool on up

Other suggestions or comments:
Make Saturday night, board game night, and create your own family tradition.
