Description of technique for limiting kids' TV-time:
Get your family together by turning off the TV and dealing them all in for the next hand. Playing cards is fun and a great pastime to get every family member together for a good time. Playing cards with young kids teaches math, colors and matching skills. Beginner games can include Go Fish, War and Crazy Eights. As your kids get older, you can teach them Spit, Rummy and Solitare. And for the really adventurous, there's nothing like a good game of Hearts, Pinochle, or Bridge with your favorite foursome.

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool on up
