Description of technique for limiting kids' TV-time:
You've heard of Prince Spaghetti Night? Well in our house, Friday night is our very own Foodfest night. Instead of plopping down in front of the TV after a long week at work and school, our family gets together and cooks. My girls love to make dough so we usually make a gigantic pizza for the main entree. (By the way, if you're not into making your own dough you can buy ready-made dough in your grocer's deli or frozen food section). Then, each week, we all take turns picking out our favorite toppings. Throw together a salad (or buy ready-made) and add beverages of your choice. For dessert, grab your favorite ice cream and create an awesome sundae with hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts and favorite toppings. For us it's a great way to finish off the week, hanging out together in our favorite place: the kitchen, and catching up on everyone's week and planning the weekend ahead. (Okay, so we usually pick up a video too for later on that night, but at least we've spent some quality time together first!)
