Briefly describe this fundraising event:
A product sales fundraising hit because practically every household uses them and most pick them up at the check out stand on impulse and pay too much. Find a supplier offering the ultra alkalines for high tech devices (they're made by TOSHIBA Ultra, Energizer e-2 Titanium, Duracell Ultra) to run those Gameboys, portable CD players, etc. longer. Do a key word search in quotes for "fundraising batteries" to find sources geared to supplying fundraising groups to sell at Sam's Club prices and make 66% profit, too.

Organizing the event:
Simple consumeable product sales campaign your support group will look forward to reordering from throughout the year. Once it's set up, it's easy to repeat. Try using a coupon style order form printed on each newsletter that can be returned with payment by the specified date.

Capital possibilities:
Industry statistics say the average household spends about $100/yr on alkaline batteries. When parents take this fundraiser to work, they often find not only co-workers like the deals, but the company itself buys lots of batteries and will participate at competitive prices.

Degree of difficulty:
Very easy uncomplicated product sales fundraising with familiar household items everybody needs.

Other suggestions or comments:
Check any large industrial companies in town for support. They often just order from industrial supply house catalogs and may be happy to support your fundraising efforts.
