Briefly describe this fundraising event:
In spring 1999 our 60-family cooperative nursery school held a golf marathon that raised $15,000, the most we had ever raised at a single fundraiser. About 20 golfers golfed 100 modified holes of golf in a day.
Organizing the event:
A little tricky and a fair amount of work, but manageable. We did it with a professional fundraising organizer who takes a fee up front and then a percentage. We still made money.
Capital possibilities:
We raised $15,000, the most we had ever raised at a single fundraiser.
Degree of difficulty:
It's good because it gets people to get pledges outside the usual circle of family. But not everyone is comfortable asking for pledges, so even though it raised a lot of money it did so without a high percentage of the membership participating.
