Briefly describe this fundraising event:
Sell your very own custom town calendars.
Organizing the event:
1. To create your own town calendar, you need to sell advertising to local merchants. The local merchants become the calendar's ad sponsors.
2. Collect logos from local businesses and sell each business ad space on the calendar pages. You may want to limit ads to 3 or 4 per calendar page. Price ads reasonably at $25 to $35 dollars, depending on the size of the ad desired.
3. Collect student artwork to feature in the calendar (one piece per page or a collage of student work on each calendar page).
4. Enlist the help of an art teacher to get the calendar together and ready for printing with all the business logos and artwork laid out for each calendar month.
5. Work with your local print shop to print out the calendars (they may do this at no cost in return for an ad!)
6. Once printed up, sell the calendars for $15 at sporting events and school functions. Try to get local book stores and restaurants to display the calendars for sale.
Capital possibilities:
The sky is the limit. The amount of money you'll raise depends entirely on how much of a sales effort the kids put in. Most parents and community members won't hesitate to support such a good cause! Profits can be quite high, depending upon which services you can have donated in return for ads.
Degree of difficulty:
Selling ad space is the hardest part but most local merchants will not want to be left out!
Other suggestions or comments:
Be sure when selling the calendars to let people know that proceeds will go to benefit the school!
