Briefly describe this fundraising event:
A local car wash.
Organizing the event:
Get the word out to the community: The school is hosting a car wash and we need your help!1. Get a local car wash to sponsor the event or ask a convenient shopping plaza if you can monopolize their parking lot. If you go with the parking lot you'll need to organize kids, car soap, access to water and towels! Most businesses are happy to oblige if their name is prominently displayed on the flyer. Make a flyer up ahead of time to entice them. For example, "The 1999 Hackensack High School Car Wash is sponsored by the Garden State Plaza, FREE parking for everyone!" 2. Send home flyers asking parents, friends and neighbors to come on down and get every car they own washed. 3. Get students to put up signs on every main street corner.
Capital possibilities:
Charge $5 to $10 per car. The school will get 100% of profit minus the cost of soap and signs.
Degree of difficulty:
With a little sweat up front, your school will get away squeaky clean.
Other suggestions or comments:
You might want to have the kids offer car vaccuuming services for an additional $2 or $3 dollars. This, however, requires access to an electrical outlet.
