Briefly describe this fundraising event:
Our Academic Booster's Club placed a 3-head vending machine in the High School. Our school is small (200 in High School) Larger schools would need more machines.
Organizing the event:
A survey of the internet found a vending machine for $65. A trip to the warehouse club and we were in business for under $125. The Special Ed. teacher used the machine to teach business and math to his students. They did the work of filling it and handling the money.
Capital possibilities:
We paid for the machine and original fill in two weeks. After that it was profit. We had about a 100% mark-up on the candy. So every quarter dropped paid us 12-15 cents. We are adding 2 machines next year to a gym area to take advantage of game traffic.
Degree of difficulty:
The only work is keeping it filled. Since it became part of a class, we just deposited money.
Other suggestions or comments:
Survey students to see what they like. We also found that one mixed candy vend sold best.
