Describe this trip activity or tip:
Depending on how far the trip is, divide the miles (or hours) into predetermined sections, example: a thousand mile trip could be divided into ten, 100 mile segments. Then buy enough small items such as packs of crayons, a neat pencil, pad of paper, a snack, etc., to equal the segments. In the above example, you would need 10 items. Place one item in a paper lunch bag and staple shut. At every milestone (above example, every 100 miles) your child gets to pick a surprise bag and open it. Each time they will get something new to keep them busy until the next milestone and they pick again.

Other comments or suggestions to consider:
Bags can be done separately for each child (to avoid fighting), just put their names on the bags that they can pick from.
