Description of this celebration activity:
Many ski resorts offer New Years Eve celebrations that include fireworks displays, buffet dinners, accommodations and lift ticket packages, and access to other resort activities such as ice skating, tubing, etc. Skiing is a great family activity, involves exercise and fresh air, and a midnight fireworks display adds the perfect amount of festivity.

Setting up and preparing for this celebration activity:
It could be expensive, but check into special packages for the holiday weekend, which might make it more economical.

Other suggestions or comments:
There are very few activities my teenagers enjoy doing with me, but skiing is definitely one we all love. They're actually better skiers than I am, so they get to help and advise me for a change, and exchanging stories at the end of the day becomes a great way for us to really connect, laugh, and enjoy each other's company.
