Age group(s) for this celebration activity:
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School

Description of this celebration activity:
When it's "midnight" for your children, have them blow their wishes for the new year into their bag blowing it up and popping it.

Setting up and preparing for this celebration activity:
Earlier in day the kids decorate both sides of small paper bags (brown paper lunch bags) with markers, rubber stamps, stickers, glitter glue, spangles, pompoms, etc. Make them festive, it's nice to include the year.

Other suggestions or comments:
This is a nice introduction to resolutions for kids. Let them know their wishes should be about being a better person in the new year. Remember, it's always midnight somewhere in the world on the hour so choose one that works for your evening (Paris, London, etc.). These can be decorated with whatever you have on hand, other colored bags are available in craft stores and with gift wrapping paper supplies.
