Instructions:
I saw a commercial example of this today, and thought it looked just too easy to personalize!
The version at the store had just a tin cookie cutter (angel, candy cane, or star) and a related biblical quote on it (angel brings Good Tidings, the shepherds tending flocks by night, the star shone in the east, etc.). Then the opposite side has a cookie recipe on it.
How to make the card is a personal choice; regular computer paper folded in card fashion, card stock, or index cards, printed on both sides. Clip art or stickers are decorative. An index card with hand-written recipe also works! Punch a hole in a corner of your version of poem/verse and recipe, and present to those you love.
I am going to recruit my husband to help me print his mom's recipes on index cards, and then put my 11 year old to work tying the ribbon and recipe together. Then we will ship a boxful of these to Mom in Arizona, so she can hand them out at the family Christmas Party. She really doesn't bake anymore, but the recipe is still important to the family, and it's good to keep it in circulation. We think handing out these little items will give her joy.
Other comments or suggestions to consider:
A small collection of cookie cutters, rolling pin, decorative sprinkles, pot holders, and a recipe makes a nice gift for a December bride or newlyweds, or any young adults that have their own home and kitchen.
