4 Star Gift Idea Rating

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time to make this gift:
1 hour

Materials:
Salts:

Baking soda
Epsom salts
Corn starch
Sea or table salt
Glycerin (optional, for sparklier bath salts)
Food color (optional)
Fragrance (optional)

Container:
Jar or cello bag
tape
ribbon or lace
glue
labels or gift tags

Instructions:
Blend equal parts of first four ingredients. Add a few drops of glycerin, a SMALL quantity of food color, and fragrance, if desired. I find that a smaller grain of salt dissolves better in the bath, and that powdered food coloring is easier to blend with the dry ingredients.

If you use glycerin or liquid food coloring, spread on baking sheet to dry before packing. Otherwise, pack into jars or cello bags and seal.

Decorate the package with ribbon or lace, and perhaps a colorful label.

Other comments or suggestions to consider:
It is best if an adult or older child adds the fragrance and color.
