Birthday party planning information:
I held a Firefighters' birthday party for my son when he turned four and it was a huge success!

I made invitations using a fire truck template for the shape.

We all first met at the local fire department for a tour and the children had lots of fun sitting inside the truck, dressing up in firefighter's clothing (their size) and watching the firefighter going down the pole, etc. It was also very educational.

Afterwards, everyone came back to our home. I had a plastic table cloth on the party table that had a town motif I found and in the middle of the table I had a large firetruck with a dalmatian dog holding fire truck birthday balloons.

For name plates, I had made cupcakes with red icing and cut out cardboard in the shape of a firetruck. I wrote their names on the cardboard and hot glued it to a toothpick. I then stuck the name tag into the cupcake and put it by their paper plate. Each child also had a Hot Wheels firetruck dinky car by their name to play with on the table cloth.

I made a replica of a real firetruck out of a refrigerator box. I put the box on it's side and cut out the shape of the truck. I cut out the front and side windows and painted the whole box red. I then painted the ladder on each side in black, glued on tin pie plates for the headlights and a yellow badge sign depicting Fire Truck No. 4. I also made a yellow light for the top with yellow cardboard bent to look like a siren. Inside I made a steering wheel out of styrofoam and the children had a lot of fun playing inside. I took a picture of each child with a firefighter's hat on inside the truck to take home.

CRAFTS:
We decorated plastic firefighter hat's with stickers.
The children put the spots on dalmatian dog cutouts with black bingo dabbers.

FOOD:
I had a firetruck birthday cake.
I served chicken schnitzel, fruit platter, buns and vegetables with dip.
You can also place a bowl of red hot candies.

ACTIVITIES:
If weather permits, you place a toy cat in a tree outside and each child takes turn in an obstacle course to save the cat.

You start with the child using a toy car/truck and driving to the 'Hose Station' (you can use a real hose or cut an old one) where they put out the pretend fire (made out of orange garbage bags cut out like flames and taped to a fence).

The child then runs to the tree and climbs the tiny ladder to reach the cat (a small tree for little ones!).

Each child receives a prize when they finish the course and save the cat!

Inside, you can purchase a firetruck pinata or perform a fire rescue event inside.

LOOT BAGS:
I bought a firetruck book at the dollar store and filled a firefighter's hat with a firetruck Hot Wheels car, miniature firefighter figurine, and fire safety coloring book and crayons.
