Age group(s) for this birthday party activity:
Elementary School
Middle School

Cost of birthday party activity:
Usual cost of food & cake.

Birthday party planning information:
Catch the spirit and energy of hockey!
Decorations: Hang posters of famous hockey players and hockey team pennants on the walls. (This is assuming the guest of honor is a die-hard fan!)
Food: Snaking Equipment - hockey stick breadsticks and hamburger pucks. Before baking breadsticks, bend them at one end to imitate the curve of a hockey stick. Wrap thin strips of cheese around the straight end to make a "handle". (Slices of Velveeta or Swiss work best.) Grill mini hamburger patties and serve with ketchup.
Cake: Hockey Puck! Bake a 9" round layer cake. When completely cool, frost with dark chocolate icing. Add a circle of white icing to the center of the cake and use decorative frosting or gel to decorate the circle with the logo of your child's favorite team. Or draw the NHL Shield logo (which is a bit more simple!) with black and yellow gels.

Other suggestions or comments:
Activity: a pick-up hockey game!
