Cost of birthday party activity:
Usual cost of food and cake, streamers and balloons.
Cost of inexpensive sunglasses and craft items.

Birthday party planning information:
Celebrate a birthday in 60's style.
Invitations: Cut out bright flower shapes for invitations.
Decorating: Cut colorful posterboard (esp. neon) into flower shapes. Tape bright streamers and balloons to the walls.
Food: Let guests mix their own 60's granola snack from raisins, nuts, sunflowers, M&Ms and flavored (chocolate, peanut butter) chips.
Cake: Turn cupcakes into flowers, butterflies and smiley faces, using colored sugar, licorice pieces and whips, and other edible decorations.

Other suggestions or comments:
Activity: Before the party, buy a pair of inexpensive plastic sunglasses for each guest. Cover a table with newspaper and set up a variety of paint pens, craft glue, sequins and gems. Let the guests decorate their own pair of groovy sunglasses with polka dots and flowers.
