Age group(s) for this birthday party activity:
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School

Cost of birthday party activity:
Cat in the Hat Partyware, if you choose. Not a must!
Usual cost of food and cake.

Birthday party planning information:
Invite the clever and creative Cat into your home! Cat in the Hat partyware is usually available in most stores, but it is not a necessity with this party.
Invite guests to bring their favorite Dr. Seuss book.
Food: Make cheese or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches using cookie cutters that are shaped like cats.
Cake: Make a version of the layered cake pictured on the partyware plates. Bake or buy an 8" round pink cake. If you are baking, use strawberry cake mix and two cake pans. If bought, cut it horizontally in half. Thickly frost both layers with yellow frosting; do not frost sides.

Other suggestions or comments:
Decorations: Blow up lots of standard 12" assorted balloons, especially red and white ones.
Activity: Invite each guest to read aloud their favorite Dr. Seuss book, but, depending on ages, be prepared to help!
