Cost of birthday party activity:
The purchase of a couple small pools if you do not already have them.

Birthday party planning information:
Place dirt in the bottom of the pools. Fill with water to make a good amount of mud. Have kids wear their bathing suits. See who can get the muddiest. Have water hose ready to wash off kids. This is great fun. Kids love to get dirty.

Other suggestions or comments:
Make a worm cake for the birthday kid. Use marshmallow cream and dark cookies mixed for icing. Add gummy worms on top.
