Age group(s) for this birthday party activity:
Elementary School
Middle School

Cost of birthday party activity:
I would say $20 and up depending upon how much you want to put into it.

Birthday party planning information:
The invites are round circles with fold at top. Use red rick-rack to make stitching. Open and word something like "Let's play ball" or "Take me out to the Ballgame!"

You can either choose to go to a highschool baseball game, or, if you have a minor league in your area visit their stadium. The tickets are about $4 per child or less in bulk.

I purchase simple backpacks at the dollar store for each child. I rubber stamp their name onto the backpacks and iron on a piece of felt shaped like a baseball with stitching. Inside the backpacks I put Babe Ruth chocolate bars, cracker jacks, peanuts, jug of gatorade, and a bag of popcorn. I also purchased from the dollar store these baseball hats that came with a pen that you can write with onto the caps. They each signed one anothers and had players sign.

Our stadium has promotional nights - each night varies depending upon the sponsor. We had this party twice during the baseball season (once for each of my sons). One of the night's promos was the mascots birthday and the other night was $.25 hotdog night. It was a little costly, but with only 5 friends plus our family it probably cost us less than $100 and my boys LOVED it!

Other suggestions or comments:
I took lots of photos. I made thank yous that included a collage of all the pics. We also had this as a sleepover since we didn't get home until 11:30pm from the park.

Prior to leaving our home for the game I had the boys all put their pjs into labeled ziplock bags and I had them all layout their sleeping bags in the livingroom. After the game was done we did a bathroom run and had them take turns changing in the van into their pjs and then we headed for home. When we got there we simply carried or helped them into their bags. We really enjoyed this as much as the kids - the game, mascot, etc. was the entertainment so I was allowed to enjoy right along with them.
