Age group(s) for this birthday party activity:
Elementary School
Middle School
Cost of birthday party activity:
7.00 for a campsite (we may try to get more than one)
50.00 for food (dinner and breakfast, plus snacks)
35.00 for a tour (optional)
Birthday party planning information:
This party is geared toward upper elementary school age kids. My son will be ten this year, and in the 5th grade. His birthday is in early September. He has decided to invite the boys in his class for an overnight camping adventure.
We will be camping at a local park/campsite run by the city. I have also arranged for them to take a walking Ghost Tour of a small town on the other side of the park. Games will be flashlight tag, capture the flag, Red Light/Green Light, and there will be a treasure hunt in the dark. We will also provide a Ouija board and a book of ghost stories for "in the tent time."
We are going to have hot dogs, beans, and corn on the cob for dinner. S'mores, popcorn, trail mix and jerky for snacks, and bacon and eggs for breakfast.
Party favors are going to be camping related and will be bundled in bandanas and tied to sticks (hobo style) they will later use for marshmallows and hot dogs. We will also provide each guest with a disposable camera with flash, so everyone is in the pictures and we get different perspectives.
Other suggestions or comments:
Since we are dealing with more "grown up" boys, we are avoiding cute characters, etc. and sticking with solid colored decorations and balloons. I am making the invitations out of brown and dark green card stock paper and cutting them out to resemble tents and pine trees.
