Appropriate age group(s):

High School & Beyond
Estimated time to make this decoration:
15 minutes
Materials:
2 candy canes, individually wrapped in cellophane
"cool melt" glue gun
curling ribbon(s): white, red, silver, gold---whatever you have!
chenille stick (pipecleaner)
Instructions:
Plug in the glue gun thang and let it warm up.
Lay the candy canes on the table, so you can visualize what you're going to make. You want the "crook" of each candy cane turned inward, each facing the other, so the 2 come together to form a Heart Shape.
Yes, it's a slender heart shape, vs. the usual plump heart shapes, but it's still a cool heart shape!
Joe Candy Cane then meets Jane.
B-4 you are through with him, Joe will have a touch of hot glue on his nose, and on his toes...he and Jane gently touch Toes, and Kiss, and suddenly find themselves Bonded 2gether
4ever. Do I hear violins?...
I just hear my daughter saying "Mother, you are sooo weird!"
Unplug that hot glue gun now, and Be VERY careful with it. Even the cool melt version is pretty darn warm to the touch. That part of the action is for adults and older children
(w/supervision).
Then, you can attach a "hanger" using the pipe cleaner, and tie some ribbons at the top and curl them with the scissors.
It's a good way to recycle those candy canes as you take them down from the Christmas tree...if the kids haven't eaten them all. We always seem to buy way more than the kids can eat. Only one child likes peppermint, but both love classic red and white candy canes on the tree.
Other comments or suggestions to consider:
After Valentine's day, our luv story continues, with a steamy then bittersweet ending.
Joe and Jane find themselves suddenly torn apart, then up to their invisible armpits in Hot Cocoa... ;-)
