4 Star Idea Rating

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time to make this decoration:
minutes to hours!

Materials:
coffee filters (cheap!)

age-appropriate scissors of High Quality

broom n' dustpan or vacuum! ;-)

Instructions:
Kids fold the coffee filters in halves, quarters, etc.; the older the child, the smaller the fold can be and still be manageable.

Cut shapes out of the paper, along the fold lines, and cut zig-zags or scallops along the rounded edge, if desired. (If you cut a hole at center, Small is probably best!)

Unfold. Say "oooh" and "ahhhh!"
Put them on bulletin boards, windows, and gift packages.

Other comments or suggestions to consider:
I'd like to hear other people tell how they effectively apply these to windows. My daughter and I used li'l dabs of rubber cement this year, vs. tape (which is a booger to remove after the sunshine's been at it over time). We think it will be easy to rub that off when it's time to switch to hearts (hey! let's use the rest of the filters 4 that!!), but we are not sure, so cannot guarantee it. Office supply places have poster putty stuff that might work; don't let small people or pets get to that; it only Looks like taffy...
