4 Star Idea Rating

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time to make this decoration:
30 minutes

Materials:
Pine cones (all shapes & sizes work)
Creamy peanut butter (any cheap brand is good - the stickier the better!)
Bird seed
Scraps of yarn or ribbon for ties

Instructions:
Spread peanut butter over entire pine cone. Be sure to fill in the spaces and cover the bottom but NOT the top.
Roll peanut butter-covered pine cone in bird seed; gently shake off excess.
Tie a length of ribbon to the stem or other sturdy part at top of pine cone and hang anywhere you want to attract birds.

Other comments or suggestions to consider:
Be sure to make a lot of these - the birds REALLY love this treat!
A few years ago, my daughter (then aged 7 or 8) made quite a chunk of money selling these for 50 cents each to neighbors, friends & relatives!
