4 Star Idea Rating

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time to make this decoration:
25 - 30 minutes

Materials:
2 brown paper lunch bags
1 sheet EACH red, brown/beige, white, and black construction paper
1 ribbon, any color
1 pipe cleaner, any color
1 jingle bell
glue
clear tape
scissors
newspaper

Instructions:
1. Trace childs' hands on the brown/beige construction paper - cut and put aside - these will be used for the antlers.
2. Cut out two circles each from the black and white construction paper. Make the white circles a little bit larger - they will be used for the eyes.
3. Open one brown bag and stuff with newspaper. Open the other bag and slide it over the top of the first bag - secure with the clear tape.
4. Glue the black circles onto the white circles to resemble eyes and glue to one side of the bag.
5. Cut a circle out of the red paper and glue for the nose.
6. Take the cut-out hands and tape or glue to the top corners of the bag. Secure them on the BACK of the bag.
7. Push the pipe cleaner thru the jingle bell. Form a loop and secure to the back of the bag, midway between the "antlers".
8. Tie ribbon under the nose to form either a bow or tie - secure.

Other comments or suggestions to consider:
Reindeer can be hung up or placed on a table.
Instead of a red paper nose you could also use a large, red pom-pom or a large cotton ball painted red.
