Appropriate age group(s):

High School & Beyond

Estimated time to make this decoration:
About the same as making rolled cookies, but with drying or baking time added

Materials:
Cinnamon, applesauce, cookie cutters, ribbon, fabric tube/puff paint (optional).

Some recipes also use white glue.

Instructions:
The resulting ornaments look and smell like spicy little brown cookies to hang on your tree. Don't get irate, but I am going to bail on you here, and offer you a web site: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/1170/cinnamon.html Then you can print a nice, clean copy, and I won't have to re-invent the wheel. I've seen multiple versions of this recipe over the past ten years, so surf if you care to. Maybe some folks will tell us which recipe, in their opinion, works best.

Other comments or suggestions to consider:
I think some people "freshen" their ornaments with a bit of spicy essential oil after years of use.

Remember that cinnamon can "cloud" when shaken or stirred, especially in large quantities, so adults should mix, letting kids help in other areas. Don't let anyone rub their eyes while working with the dough!
