4 Star Idea Rating

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time to make this decoration:
1 hour

Materials:
1. Colored construction paper: red, green, white, black
2. Glue
3. Glitter: gold, silver, red, green
4. Cotton balls
5. Crayons or colored pencils
6. Colored ribbon or string

Instructions:
1. Cut the construction paper into shapes of Christmas trees, different sized circles (for snowmen and Santa faces), black hats (for snowmen also), red hats (for Santa), stockings, candy canes - basically any Christmas shape you can think of.
2. Let children draw faces for snowmen and Santas, and "decorate" trees with their crayons.
3. Apply glue and glitter as needed and let dry; apply cotton to Santa's face (stretching cotton balls across face works best rather than using several cotton balls on face.
4. When dry, tape or glue string or ribbon to back of decoration to hang on tree.

Other comments or suggestions to consider:
Don't forget to put your child's name and year it was made, they make great gifts to give to family members from children and can be save for years.
