Instructions for using this strategy:
Before reading book, have student look at pictures to determine what story is about, structure of book such as highlighted words to determine meanings, look for unfamiliar words, etc.

What is the benefit to the child with reading problems?
When you are determining what book may be about, you are giving a reason for reading the book. You find out if you were correct. When you preteach any unfamiliar vocabulary, you are giving the student a head start on comprehending the story.
