4 Star Strategy Rating

Age group(s) for which this strategy is helpful:
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Instructions for using this strategy:
Give your child the option of going to bed and turning out the light or going to bed and reading for an extra 15 minutes.

What is the benefit to the child with reading problems?
Children with reading problems aren't always "excited" about reading, but the thing they need most is to read. This strategy gives 15 more minutes and they are excited about staying up later. Since it is the end of the day have your child choose "easy" reading material and, once again, they think they are "getting away" with something - and they are, they are getting to READ!
