4 Star Strategy Rating

Instructions for using this strategy:
Make a chart or a graphic of the numbers of items that your child reads. These can be books, comic strips, comic books, etc. The idea is to encourage your child to read by counting everything that he does read -- no matter how short or how long, or how silly or how serious. Still having problems hooking your kid into reading? Then tie in an incentive program with the chart. If you read so many paragraphs, or so many comic books, or so many books, then you get to help me make cookies, or we can go for an ice cream, or we can get baseball cardsą you get the picture.

What is the benefit to the child with reading problems?
Your child practices reading and by practicing, his word recognition and fluency will improve.
