Age group(s) for this recipe:
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Estimated time:
30-45 min. (plus, thawing time for bread dough)

Number of servings:
4-5 per loaf of bread dough

Ingredients: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
frozen bread dough (white)

pizza sauce

grated mozzarella cheese, Italian blend, and/or provolone

desired fillings: pepperoni, ham/Canadian bacon, onion, green peppers, mushrooms, olives, mushrooms...your choice!

Directions:
Thaw dough in the fridge (read the package label for time guideline).

Twist each loaf into 4 or 5 pieces.

On a floured surface, roll each portion into circles, about 5-6 inches diameter.

Put approx. one Tbsp. of pizza sauce on each circle, and sprinkle Sparingly with cheese and other favorite items.

Carefully fold dough in half, pinching edges together firmly to seal the contents inside.

Place pockets on a very lightly greased cookie sheet, and bake for approx. ten minutes, or until bread becomes a golden brown.

Serve warm (the fillings are Very Hot; place in a cloth or napkin-lined basket, and cover lightly with the cloth). Serve up a salad or carrots n' celery sticks/apple slices course, and drinks, as you wait for the pockets to cool just a bit. Then, Enjoy!

Other suggestions and comments:
Children can assist with filling the pockets.

Once they are sealed up, you won't be able to tell 'em apart, so...you could line the cookie sheet with foil (shiny side down) and write or etch name or initials beside each pocket.

These are only as good as the sauce and fillings chosen. Making them is a good rainy/snowy day activity. Leftovers freeze well. Unfrozen leftover pockets heat up quick in the microwave; 45 seconds to a minute, and again, Be Careful, 'cuz they are Way Hot!!!

If you have a bread machine, try using your favorite dough recipe for bread or rolls.

Great for Movie Nights at home, too! ;-)
