Preparation takes approximately 30 minutes, bread bakes in about 20 to 25 minutes.

Number of servings:
Makes 1 loaf

Ingredients: (Hit your return key to start a new line)
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup yellow corn meal
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/4 cup shortening

Directions:
Heat oven to 425°.
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; stir in corn meal.
Add eggs, milk, and shortening. Beat with electric mixer until smooth, about 1 minute.
Pour into greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes.

Other suggestions and comments:
