Braeburn: very firm. Good for all purposes; Season: October thru July.

(Whew!) those being tested for freezer storage suitability were new varieties at the time this chart was compiled. You can also get good counsel from produce managers in your local markets. Likewise, the 'season' may vary a bit for your local market, with climate and storage conditions and demand for varieties playing a part. (Our local markets have around 30 varieties of apples at various times of the year, from around the world, with special price code stickers on every apple...plus Organically Grown...
In my view, the best use for most of 'em is: cut into wedges and serve Fresh, perhaps with a cheese platter. Other people must agree; that's why Variety Packs sell so well during the holiday season ;-)
Gotta fly now; I hear a Washington apple calling my name I tellya...the radio commercials for these are more ruthlessly effective than the fizzy pop-open-the- Pepsi-can/bottle commercials!!
