Description of gift:
Custom framing is pricey! In our family, the objective recently was to get my husband's father's military medals and ribbons framed in a shadow box. The cost was split among all the siblings. He has service club pins and memorabilia, too, but they opted to do that a bit later, vs. hitting up everyone for a large amount, all at once.

Materials:
This mostly involves one person getting the bid for the project, then coordinating the data exchange and money exchange among various family members. It involves time, too; it's not an overnight thing.

Other suggestions or comments:
Even if you've clipped a coupon from a frame/craft shop, expect it to be a fairly pricey gift!

A step beyond Basic would be the shadow-box type Coffee Table with clear glass top. That allows display of larger items.
