Describe the best gift you ever received or gave:
I sort of gave this book to myself (as a mom---gasp!) when my husband was on one of Uncle Sam's Navy "vacation cruises." When you are trying to do the job for two, nearly anything can be a resource!!! I thought the book might be more sad than humorous until he was Home Again. Besides; I had found the thrift store edition by accident, with the beat-up cover at no extra charge... Dad deserves Classy Stuff, so we sent another, new, good humor selection by a cartoonist he admires. We both find the "How to Dad," book amusing, though!

What made this gift extra-special?
It's part how-to and part humor. Especially good for giving a newbie dad things to look forward to, or for any parent of young children who can laugh at all the ways to apply (and mis-apply) these life skills/play skills. Stuff like taxi-stopping whistle technique, how to skip a rock, make shadow puppets, and of Vital Importance: how to play Monopoly in Less than Five Hours!

Other comments or suggestions:
Moms have been known to sneak a peak and look at this book, too. I note that the newest edition has Mom as co-author.
;-) Egad, almost forgot! "How to Dad" is by John and Carol Boswell, with cool illustrations by Ron Barrett, and it's in hardcover from Dell Publishing.
