Brief Summary:
First published in 1963 with ink drawings and green washes, Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree has been updated with full color but is the same great story, told in a sing-songy rhyme. Mr. Willowby's tree is too large even for his mansion, so the butler cuts off the top and tosses it out. Someone finds it, cuts a bit off to make it more useable for their home, and the cut-off bit is then found by someone else who in turn cuts a bit off...in the end Mr. Willowby's Christmas tree provides seven smaller trees for various homes around the countryside. Unbeknownst to Mr. Willowby, the smallest portion of the tree can be found in the mouse hole behind his parlor chair, where mice happily dance around it in celebration.
