Q
My daughter received 98 and 99 percent on all the subjects in the TerraNova test. Is there anything special I should be doing for her?
A
The TerraNova test is a newer group achievement test that some school districts have purchased. Your result paper should also list how your daughter's percentiles compare to other kids locally and nationally for her age and grade.

She obviously has superior learning potential and I hope you will help her find challenging learning experiences. If your district has gifted services, they may consider her for entry. If not, find out what else they can offer her in the way of honors classes, fun clubs like language, science etc. Look through other areas on this website for suggestions about parenting gifted kids.

Since your child has a "learning difference," she deserves every opportunity to have her educational needs met, just the same as every other student with differences who may not be as fortunate as she is. The best learning advocate for any student -- and sometimes the only advocate -- is a parent.
