I'm in JROTC and considering going into the Army after high school. My parents have financial problems, so I don't want to burden them with college tuition and I know the Army will help me pay for school. Do you think it's good for me to go straight into the Army after high school, or should I start college and enlist in the army part-time?

Congratulations on considering the Army. The Army is an excellent way to gain valuable experience, meet people from all walks of life, build your leadership skills, and gain exposure to national and global issues. In addition to the obvious financial benefits you'll get for college tuition, employers see experience in the armed services as a big plus. Meet with an Army recruiter and ask him or her to describe the different options that are available, the pros and cons of each, and the names of people you can talk with who are already college juniors or seniors. Ask their advice as well. Again, congratulations on having a proactive plan and for stepping up to such a challenging, rewarding opportunity.
