You can probably picture 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar without too much trouble. Just chalk that up to years of experience with fractions. Fourth-graders have only just gotten started on fraction concepts. Your child will need some practice before he's as comfortable with them as you are! He will also need to continue learning about measurement, and about the difference between feet, yards, and miles. Some of this homework may require a ruler, so keep one handy.
