Your fifth-grader is growing by leaps and bounds, and so is the amount of information he's taking in. Being able to organize and analyze data will make this expanding world of facts much less overwhelming. You can help him learn to do this. Invite him to read the newspaper with you and point out graphs that show trends and patterns. Or gather all his height and weight records and help him plot his remarkable development. Seeing his own information plotted on a graph may make the subject a lot more interesting. After all, at this age, it is all about him, isn't it?
