World's Fair

Bring the World's Fair to your home with this fun and exciting activity.

World's Fair

Required:

  • Reference materials
  • Drawing supplies

If you and your child can't travel to visit the next World's Fair, how about bringing the next World's Fair into your living room?

Assign family members specific countries, and they can act as representatives for their areas in the first Family World's Fair. Each country rep sets up a booth (a table and chair, actually) in your living room. Encourage participants to use reference books as a starting point for preparing posters, collages, essays, and stories illustrating the highlights and histories of their countries.

Family members can incorporate clothing, foods, buildings, and inventions indigenous to the countries into their booths. Reps might also want to create special items to "sell" to visitors, including recipe books, T-shirts, postcards, paperweights, commemorative coins, and the like; prepare demonstrations of native cooking; offer lessons in speaking the local languages; and provide sightseeing information for potential tourists.

Once the booths are in order and reps are ready, invite friends to tour the best World's Fair ever and explore to their hearts' content—without even leaving your home!
