Chinese Lantern

Making a Chinese lantern is a traditional decorative art project that's just right for a preschooler.

Chinese Lantern


Materials

  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue or stapler

Directions

  1. Fold construction paper in half lengthwise and show your child how to cut from the folded edge to within one and a half inches of the opposite side.
  2. When cuts have been made along the entire length of the paper, unfold and form into a cylinder by joining together the short uncut ends of the paper.
  3. Glue or staple another strip of construction paper for a handle.
